The Role:

As a Project Engineer at Black Diamond Designs Inc. you will take the lead on the design, management, and execution of impactful civil and environmental public projects. Your work will directly contribute to sustainable urban and remote development, improve environmental quality, and enhance the resilience of community assets. Youโ€™ll work on a diverse range of projects, from revitalizing urban parks to designing complex trail structures and bridges to regenerative stormwater systems, ensuring environmental compliance, and tackling sustainability challenges head-on.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Engineering: Lead the design of civil infrastructure systems, including but not limited to All types of trail systems, park designs, bridges, boardwalks, overlooks, stormwater management, transportation, and environmental systems. Incorporate sustainable, green solutions to improve environmental outcomes.

  • Project Management: Oversee all aspects of project execution โ€” from scope definition and budgeting to timelines, field design drawings, and resource management. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

  • Collaboration: Work alongside architects, environmental consultants, construction teams, and local governments to deliver integrated, community-driven solutions.

  • Compliance & Permitting: Ensure projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Manage permitting processes and environmental reviews.

  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the community to ensure project success and community engagement.

  • Innovation & Sustainability: Promote and integrate sustainable engineering practices, bringing creative solutions to complex environmental challenges.

About You:

Youโ€™re a passionate problem solver with a solid background in civil and environmental engineering and a desire to work on projects that make a difference. You bring hands-on experience in both the design and management of public infrastructure projects, with a keen understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the civil/environmental space.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related fields (with a focus on public infrastructure).

  • Strong project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting, and team coordination.

  • Expertise in environmental regulations and sustainable design practices.

  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS, etc.).

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.
